Obituary of Isaac Rolley Jr.
Isaac Rolley, Jr., age 50, affectionately known by many family and friends as “Boo”, sadly passed away on Saturday November 25, 2023 in Morristown, New Jersey.
Isaac was born on October 7, 1973, to Marjorie Joan McClary and Isaac Rolley, Sr. He was born and raised in his beloved Jersey City, New Jersey where he was known as the unofficial “Mayor of Jersey City” to his family and friends.
Isaac lived with his grandparents Otis, Sr. and Ruby Rolley. Throughout his Pine Street neighborhood, Isaac was referred to as the helper of Pine Street. There wasn’t a person who didn’t know who Isaac was. He loved his family, neighbors and friends. A giver of his time, Isaac was always willing to help anyone who asked. In addition, he found joy in talking with friends and keeping everyone abreast of the happenings around the city.
Isaac was a regular attendee of St. John Baptist Church in Jersey City and also graduated from St. Anthony’s High School. He loved old school music, particularly soul music from the fifties through the seventies, and was often the life of the party where he loved to dance.
In 2015, Isaac transitioned from the “unofficial Mayor of Jersey City” to the “unofficial Mayor of Piscataway” when he relocated to live with his aunt Helen Wiley where he resided for the remainder of his life. Never missing a beat, Isaac picked up right where he left off and he continued being a loving helper to everyone he encountered.
Fond memories of Isaac include his love of food including his favorites lasagne, macaroni and cheese, and birthday cake. He is also well known for dancing anytime music was on, and giving everyone the artist, song title, and year to every soulful oldie.
Isaac is preceded in death by his father Isaac Rolley, Sr., his grandparents Otis Rolley, Sr. and Ruby Rolley, and his uncles Otis Rolley Jr., and James McClary, as well as aunt Jean McClary.
Isaac’s memories will forever be cherished by his: aunts Helen Wiley (Hayes), Sallie Gaillard (Eric) and Andrea Rolley, Geraldine McClary, and uncles Aron Rolley Sr. (Yvonne), Hulon McClary, Carlton Mc Clary, Gregory McClary, Joseph McClary, Allen McClary, and Ronald McClary, as well as a host of loving cousins and friends.
Visitation will begin at 9am followed by an 11am funeral service on Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Mt. Pisgah AME Church, 354 Forrest St. Jersey City, NJ 07304
Immediately following the funeral service, Isaac will be laid to rest in the Rolley family plot at Bayview – New York Bay Cemetery, Jersey City.
