Obituary of Genevieve Caroline DiDario
South Plainfield, NJ – Genevieve Caroline DiDario, 94, passed away peacefully at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains on December 16, 2023. Born in Irvington and graduated from South Side High School in Newark, Class of 1947, Genevieve lived in Plainfield prior to settling in South Plainfield.
Genevieve retired from the Edison Board of Education where she worked as a secretary until 1999. She had a love for skiing and enjoyed traveling with her family. Genevieve enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City where she could be found on the penny slots. A very active, fun and loving woman, Genevieve and her husband even went white water rafting down the Colorado River in their 70’s!
Above all things, family meant the world to her. Genevieve never missed a sporting activity for her grandchildren and would be in the stands rooting loud and using her clapper.
Predeceased by her parents; Kashmir and Josephine (Koziel) Kalamon, and five siblings, Genevieve leaves behind her loving husband of seventy-two years, Dominick and their three children; Douglas and his wife Mary DiDario of Currituck, NC, Robert DiDario and his wife Nancy of Little Egg Harbor and Jackie Vill and her husband Albert of South Plainfield. “Minga” as her five grandchildren; Robbie, Paul, Albert, Caroline and Katherine would call her, will deeply miss her.
Visitation will be held in McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 11am until 1pm. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery located in Scotch Plains.
