Obituary of Charles Semmer, Jr.
Warren, NJ – Charles Semmer, Jr., 89, passed away peacefully at The Chelsea in Warren on January 27, 2024. Born in Neptune to the late Charles and Henrietta (Jackson) Semmer, Charles was a longtime resident of Middlesex. He settled in Whiting for almost twenty years before moving to the Chelsea four years ago.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and received his honorable discharge in 1962. He then went into the work force and became a Sales Manager with Coca-Cola in North Brunswick. He had an extensive Coca-Cola collection.
Charles was also an active member of his community. He was a Pop Warner Coach and a lifetime member of the Middlesex Rescue Squad. He enjoyed spending time going to car shows with his mid-seventies’ Lincoln Continental. He was also involved in several committees when he moved to Whiting. His favorite was leading the Bocce Ball League because he loved sports. He was also an avid NY Giants and Mets fan. Charles was always helping out others and volunteering his time.
He was a huge animal lover and always had dogs growing up and could often be found helping animals in need. Charles enjoyed being outdoors and tending to his garden.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Beverly in 2022, Charles leaves behind his two daughters; Sandra Felix and John and Karen Downey and John as well as his grandchildren; Sarah Felix and her husband Yad Mohammadieh and John Felix. He will be deeply missed by his two great-grandchildren; Yaddie and Maia and by his friends and other residents within the Chelsea Community.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 beginning 2:00pm. Concluding Military Honors and prayers will be held at 4:30pm. At the request of the family, Charles will be buried privately along with his wife at Rocky Hill Cemetery in Princeton at a later date.
