Obituary of Fred Ghanim

Please share a memory of Fred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Fred (Fuad) Jamil Ghanim was born in Ramallah, Palestine on December 18, 1947.

He was one of seven children of Jamil Rizik Ghanem & Nimeh (Bajalia) Ghanem.

At the age of 15, Fred and his family left Palestine to come to the United States in the pursuit of a better life. Although it was a tough journey for him and his family, they settled in New Jersey.

Fred, along with his brothers had his own business as a very successful carpet installer which he owned for many years prior to his retirement.

At the age of 29, Fred married Anna May Aruta and the two were married for 24 years. From their marriage they had two children together; Fred Jason Ghanim (Joy DiMatteo) and Amanda Jane (Ghanim) Vettori (David Vettori)

Several years later at the age of 53, Fred married Suzan O Musallam and was married for 23 years. From this marriage they had three children together; Alex Fred Ghanim, Stephen Fred Ghanim, and William Fred Ghanim. Additionally surviving are his four grandchildren, Gianna Marie, Vanessa Maria, Veronica Anne, and Valerie Rose; his eldest brother, Ricky (Rizik) Ghanim and his sisters, Nahla (Ghanem) George, Mary (Ghanem) Fregans, Aida (Ghanem) Neil, and Salwa (Ghanem) Rofrano.

He is preceded in death by his mother Nimeh (Bajalia) Ghanem, father Jamil Rizik Ghanem, and his younger brother Nader Ghanim.

Recently, Fred enjoyed one last trip back to his homeland, Ramallah, Palestine. This was his wish before he passed on.

Fred is not suffering anymore from cancer. He will be missed on earth, but is now at peace in heaven. God rest his soul. May his memory be eternal.
