Obituary of Patricia Basilone
Patricia Mary Basilone (nee Brand) passed away on Friday afternoon, February 23, 2024 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family.
Born in Bloomfield, Pat grew up in Franklin Township and had been a resident of South Plainfield for nearly 47 years.
A 1971 graduate of Franklin High School, Pat earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the former Trenton State College currently The College of New Jersey in Ewing.
Following graduation, Pat worked at Muhlenberg Hospital for most of her early years of nursing. She left the hospital to try working in the corporate world and was an occupational health nurse with PSE&G for a few years. She missed the clinical aspect of nursing and obtained a position at Medemerge, where she worked for many years before leaving to become the Nurse Manager at FamilyCare in Green Brook. She was working at FamilyCare until the day she was diagnosed with stomach cancer in September 2022.
Pat met John on a blind date at Rider College in February 1973 and they married in October of 1975. They complemented each other from the beginning and Pat always knew she was blessed to find a husband that enjoyed food shopping and cooking. They enjoyed traveling together, visiting local wineries with their “Wine Crew”, vacationing in Florida every winter and spending their summers at the Jersey Shore. Pat was proudest of her 2 children and her 3 grandchildren and cherished all of their family dinners and vacations. She was a loving and caring Mom and “Mimi” and felt the most joy watching her kids and grandkids at sports events, musical theater performances and dance recitals. An avid reader, Pat loved her Kindle and People Magazines. She was always up for a good time and if there was music playing she would be there dancing and singing along.
Predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Elizabeth Brand and her in-laws George and Nina Basilone, Pat is survived by her husband, John, daughter, Kristen Valluzzi and her husband Joseph; son, Justin and his wife Joelle all of South Plainfield; grandchildren, Ava, Joseph and Jack Valluzzi; sister, Denise Archer and her husband John, nephew Ryan Jackson and his wife Shea; and niece Kaitlin Jackson, all of FL, as well as many extended family members including her Grand Dog Kobe. Pat also leaves behind many special and close friends that felt more like family in many ways.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024 beginning at 3pm followed by a 6:30pm funeral service in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ.
Cremation Services will take place privately.
Pat’s cremated remains will be placed to rest at St. Bernard’s RC Church Cemetery in Bridgewater privately.
