Obituary of Lois C. Russo
South Plainfield, NJ – Lois (Porcella) Russo, 82, passed away on March 31, 2024 at The Woodlands Nursing Home in South Plainfield, just one week after the death of her beloved husband Bill. Lois was born in Newark, NJ to the late Ralph and Theresa (Melillo) Porcella. She moved to South Plainfield in 1954 where she met her husband Bill of 62 years.
She worked for NJ Bell for many years. Lois waitressed when her children were young before landing a job as bookkeeper at the House of Lights in Greenbrook, NJ, where she worked until her retirement.
She was kind and compassionate and was always willing to help someone out.
She met her husband Bill when she was only fourteen years old through her brother Don. They married when she was twenty and they spent their lives devoted to each other.
She loved musicals and was a patron of the Papermill Playhouse for years. She also enjoyed doing her crossword puzzles and watching the Hallmark Channel.
Her family meant everything to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with them and celebrating all the holidays and birthdays.
Predeceased by her parents, husband William Russo, sister Doris (Porcella) Mello and husband Arthur Mello, brother Donald Porcella and her granddaughter Stephanie Pauls, Lois leaves behind her daughter, Nancy Pauls and her husband Jeff, son William K. Russo as well as two grandchildren whom meant the world to her, Justin and Brandon Pauls, all of South Plainfield.
Family and friends are invited to gather directly to Sacred Heart Church, 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Thursday, April 4, 2024 for a 10:00am funeral mass. Entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, also in South Plainfield.
