Elizabeth A. Hewitt

Age: 81 * Middlesex, NJ

Middlesex, NJ – Elizabeth A. “Betty” Hewitt passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on Monday, April 30, 2024, just one day after her 81st birthday.  Born and raised in Bound Brook to the late Nicholas and Louise (Lozito) Berardo, Betty graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1961 and moved to Middlesex in 1963.

In 2005, Betty retired from Somerset Medical Center in Somerville where she worked for many years as a Nurse Technician.  She belonged to Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church and above all things, put her family first, especially her grandchildren.  She loved to shop, complete word search puzzles, support her grandchildren at their sports events, spend time in her garden and could always be found decorating her home for all the holidays.

Betty enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially visiting her daughter’s family in Hawaii.

She leaves behind her loving husband of forty-three years, Edgar; daughter Deborah (Gombas) Tucher and her husband Fred of Kailua, HI and son Zolton Gombas and his wife Gina of Warren, NJ.  Betty will be missed by her adored grandchildren; Andrew, Stephanie, William and Daniel and by her siblings; Florence Tokash of Blairstown and MaryLou LaFleur and her husband Gene, and their daughter Michelle of South Bound Brook as well as many friends and neighbors with whom she was close.

Family and friends may join together on Monday, May 6, 2024 at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex, NJ 08846 for a 10:30am funeral mass.  Betty will be laid to rest at Springdale Methodist Church Cemetery in Warren.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Steeplechase Cancer Center, 30 Rehill Avenue, Somerville, NJ 08876.
