Please share a memory of Josephine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Josephine Ann Colasuonno, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024 surrounded by family at her daughter and son in law’s home in CT.  Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to Ciro and Angelina Doria, Jo married Giovanni Colasuonno at Our Lady of Peace in Brooklyn in 1961, moved to Staten Island in 1964 to start a family and settled in Middlesex in 1972.

Jo was a stay-at-home mom until her children began school.  She was an Executive Assistant at American Express in Piscataway for fifteen years and retired in the early 2000s from Brother International in Bridgewater where she worked as the HR Benefits Administrator.  She was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex for nearly 50 years where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and a member of the Altar Rosary Society.  In addition, Jo taught CCD Religious Education and Pre-Cana Marriage Preparation with her husband.  She also enjoyed volunteering her time on Brother’s committee for their annual summer gathering and holiday party.

Jo was a dedicated wife and together with her husband, loved to host and share meals and traditional Italian holiday celebrations throughout the year.  Their home was a place to gather and celebrate where all were welcome and friends became family.   Jo had a passion for gardening, an enduring love of decorating her home and was frequently found doing the same for neighbors and friends.   A woman of tremendous faith and service to God, she served her community in many ways but above all things, Jo was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.  Her kind and caring nature turned strangers into friends where ever she went and her loyal friendship will be forever cherished.

Jo leaves behind her loving family; husband of 63 years John and their daughters, Marisa Biserna of Ocean Township, NJ and Angela Mia Colasuonno and her husband Andrew Lathrop of Lebanon, CT.   She is also survived by her granddaughter Isabella Maria Biserna of Brooklyn, NY, her sister, Marie and her husband Deacon Larry Reilly of Piscataway as well extended family and friends.
