Obituary of Roger S. Hendricks
Roger S. Hendricks, 81, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ with his wife of 58 years, Linda Hendricks, at his side.
Born in Berwick, PA, to George and Donzella Hendricks, Roger grew up in Shickshinny, graduating from Northwest High School. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He later settled in Plainfield, NJ, where he would be a resident for more than 50 years.
Following his years of service in the Air Force, Roger went on to work in construction. A carpenter by trade, he spent most of his career working with Garden State Land. After leaving the construction business, Roger went to work for Home Depot, where he found fulfillment at the Pro Desk before retiring at 62.
Outside of work, Roger enjoyed time in nature fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed board games, jigsaw puzzles, and playing cards. Above all else, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Predeceased by his daughter, Sue Lynn, and grandson, Roger G., Roger is survived by his wife Linda (nee Bennett) Hendricks; daughter Rebecca (Roberto) Aguas; and grandchildren, Paloma (Erika) Aguas, and Esteban Aguas. He will also be missed by his many extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 4 PM to 7 PM.
A private interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery, 1401 Woodland Avenue, Scotch Plains, NJ.
