Obituary of Walter I. Niemczyk

Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

South Plainfield, NJ – Walter I. Niemczyk, 96, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024 with his loving companion of sixty years, Rosemarie at his bedside.  Born and raised in South Plainfield to the late Ignatius and Victoria (Goulick) Niemczyk, Walt has been a lifelong resident of the borough.

Directly out of high school, Walt went into the United States Army.  He served his country stationed in Manila, Philippines and was honorably discharged as a Small Arms Weapon Mechanic.  After twenty five years of dedicated employment to American National Can Company, Walt retired as a Mechanic / Supervisor.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially on his property in Stockton, NJ.  A homing pigeon enthusiast, Walt raised and raced pigeons since he was ten years old.  He never came across a Western Movie he didn’t like, especially ones with John Wayne.  In his spare time, Walt enjoyed picking up scrap metal, taking it apart and eventually selling bits and pieces.

Predeceased by his parents and brother Thomas “Tommy” Niemczyk, Walt leaves behind his loving partner through life, Rosemarie Jeavettorea, his daughter and two grandchildren, as well as the best two care-givers anyone can have; Ana and Marisol, whom were considered family.

Walt will forever be remembered and greatly missed.  Goodbye my love – May flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest.
