Obituary of Robert Frank Mahowski, Sr.
South Plainfield, NJ – Robert Frank Mahowski, Sr., 87, passed away on July 12, 2024 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born and raised in Plainfield, Bob was a 1956 graduate of Plainfield High School. In 1962, Bob and his wife Barbara settled in South Plainfield to begin raising their family.
A diesel mechanic his entire life, Bob started his career with Foley Machinery. He worked several years for Hoffman Equipment and retired from Millington Quarry in Millington. His passion was working on automobiles. Whether it was his own 1966 mustang which he loved, or working on cars for his family and friends. He could always be found tinkering around the garage and also he enjoyed wood working.
Predeceased by his parents Frank and Catherine (Shoplock) Mahowski, siblings; Marion Wilson, Eleanor Wheat and Raymond Mahowski along with his daughter Sharon McDonough in 2010, Bob leaves behind his loving wife Barbara and their three sons; Robert, Jr. (Barbara) of Green Acres, FL, Dennis (Kelly) of Raleigh, NC and Dale (Kathy) of South Plainfield. He will be missed dearly by three grandchildren; Melissa, Nicole and Ryan, two great-grandchildren; Kyle and Kaylie Mitchell as well as his brother Ken Mahowski and his wife Virginia.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 beginning 4:00pm at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. A concluding prayer service will begin at 6:30pm. At the request of the family, cremation will take place privately.
