Obituary of Helen L. Healy
Helen L. Healy, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Complete Care - Green Knoll in Bridgewater.
Born to the late Margaret and Edward Van Alstyne, Helen is the oldest of their nine children. She was raised in Jersey City where she met her late husband, Harold J. Healy. After his untimely passing at the age of 34, Helen relocated to Secaucus in the 1990s before settling to Middlesex over twenty years ago.
She was grateful for having the opportunity of living with her grandchildren and loved the time spent with them as she watched them grow. Helen will be remembered as a devoted grandmother and mother.
A faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin, Helen enjoyed reading and completing crossword puzzles. She also stood strongly by her political views, often writing to her local and state government agencies.
Predeceased by her husband, Harold Healy, her daughter, Teresa Broderick, and siblings, John, Barbara, Edward, Garrett, and Judy, she is survived by her daughter, Mary Healy, two sons, James Healy and Harold Healy, siblings Marjorie Young, Arlene Gaccione, and David Van Alstyne, as well as her son-in-law, Harold Dunsavage.
She will also be deeply missed by her two cherished grandchildren, Mara and Zachary Dunsavage.
A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 11AM in Our Lady of Mount Virgin RC Church, Middlesex. Visitation will be held prior to mass in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex NJ 08846 from 8:30AM to 10:30AM.
Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
