Theoprolia Parras, 77, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.


Born on March 21,1947 in Bohol, Philippines, she was the second daughter of the late Guillermo Clarin and Leoncia Doria Clarin. She grew up in Sevilla, Bohol, Philippines and married the late Ismael Gallares Parras and was blessed with 4 children.


She took up Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education at Cebu Normal University in Cebu City, Philippines and worked as an elementary schoolteacher in various elementary schools in Bohol before switching career as an administrative officer at the Bohol Agricultural Promotion Center.


She immigrated to the United States in 2005 and had lived in Piscataway, NJ. She worked as an Operating room secretary at St Peter`s University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ for many years before coming full circle back to teaching as a preschool teacher at The Goddard School in Piscataway, NJ before she retired.


Besides taking care of her youngest daughter who has special needs, she found joy in the simplest pleasures in life like tending her vegetable and ornamental garden. Polia or Pol as she was fondly called, loved cooking, baking and sewing. She also loved to sing and ballroom dancing particularly boogie, tango and can do a mean cha-cha as well. In addition, she was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church in Piscataway and a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Rosary Makers Guild.


She is predeceased by her husband Ismael Parras and is survived by her children, Gerthrude Parras Leopoldo and son[1]in-law Edmund Leopoldo, Marcel Parras and daughter- in- law Ivy Clarino-Parras, Estelle Parras and Cecile Parras. Also surviving are her siblings, grandkids, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends in the Philippines as well as the greater Piscataway area.


The visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5,2024 beginning at 8am in the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd. followed by an 1130am funeral mass at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, Piscataway. Cremation services will take place privately and Mrs. Parras cremated remains will be laid to rest alongside her late husband Ismael, in the Philippines at a later date.
