Obituary of William Vroman , Jr.
William A. Vroman Jr., 82 passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at home.
Born in East Orange, Mr. Vroman grew up in Maplewood and had been a resident of Piscataway since 1982.
A Vietnam War Veteran, he was a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Signal Corps as a Field Radio Repairmen. He served active duty in Vietnam from 1964 to 1970. He then went into the Army Reserves until 1982. He received medals while in the military, including the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Good Conduct Medal.
William worked for Union County Technical Institute and Union College for 10 years. He then was employed by Middlesex County in the IT Department for 30 years, retiring in 2014. He was active in Boy Scouts for many years. He coached soccer for Piscataway Soccer Club and was a band parent for the Piscataway High School Superchief Marching Band. He had a passion for internet technology, his dogs (Roxie, Brody, and Lily), his John Deere tractor, and his GMC pick up truck. He enjoyed sharing peanuts with his grandchildren on the front porch, taking his family on vacations each year, and hosting parties by his pool.
Mr. Vroman is predeceased by his siblings, Eleanor Radcliffe, Nancy Baatz, Richard Vroman, as well as a newborn grandchild, Benjamin Brewer.
Surviving is his wife, Hilda; daughters, Theresa Maistrow and her husband Jon of South Plainfield, Jennifer Lee and her husband CJ of Piscataway and Christina Brewer and her husband Tom of South Plainfield; grandchildren, Caleb, Nicholas and Weston Maistrow, Olivia and J.J. Lee, and Addison Brewer; niece, Victoria Chubenko of TN. and brother, Robert Vroman. Also surviving several extended relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 4-8pm in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 10am at Church of the Sacred Heart, South Plainfield, NJ.
Entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway, NJ 08854.
