Obituary of Alyson Katherine Vanderhoof
Alyson Katherine Vanderhoof, 43, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 11, 2024 surrounded by family at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Her family is nothing short of heartbroken.
The youngest of the nine children born to the late John and Joan Vanderhoof, Alyson was a life long resident of Middlesex. She devoted her time and love to her daughter, Sophia Castellani, once saying she didn’t know how anyone could be more proud of their child as she was. She may have been the smallest Vanderhoof but she was a force of nature. Alyson will be remembered for her big heart—she was always there to help a friend or family in need with her sense of humor, loud taste in music or a shoulder to cry on. Alyson added friends to her family, proving love and openness is the true tie that binds. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends and will also be remembered as an animal lover of cats and dogs.
Predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Lisa Vanderhoof Harrity and Cheryl Vanderhoof; surviving are her daughter, Sophia Castellani and siblings, Mary Grek, Greg Vanderhoof, Donna Beam, John Vanderhoof, Dawn Cardinal and Heather Vanderhoof Nierling.
She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family and countless friends.
Family and friends may gather on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 2PM - 4PM in the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road Middlesex NJ 08846. A private family dinner will follow.
