Obituary of Paul Edward Thievon
Paul E. Thievon passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family at home.
Born in Plainfield, Paul grew up in South Plainfield and made Middlesex his home for over 30 years. A proud graduate of South Plainfield High School’s Class of 1984, Paul excelled in golf during his youth. He later pursued his passion for nature and design, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Delaware Valley University in 1988.
Paul began his career at Garden State Florist in Warren, NJ, gaining invaluable experience in landscape operations. In 1991, he joined McHutchison Horticultural Distributors as a sales representative, quickly becoming one of the company’s top performers. Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, Paul founded Thievon Horticultural Products, LLC, in 2006. Over 18 years, he built it into one of the most respected organizations in the horticultural industry.
In 2001, Paul married his best friend, Amy (Chabrak), and together they built a loving family. He cherished cooking with his daughter Alexa, working on yard projects with his son Nicholas, and creating a warm, joyful home.
Paul is predeceased by his father, Paul C. Thievon, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Amy; his children, Alexa and Nicholas; his mother, Maryhelen (Perdie) Thievon; his sisters, Lori Thievon Wright (Daniel Levine) and Liz Thievon; and his brother, John Thievon. Paul will also be fondly remembered as the fun-loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, starting at 10:00 a.m., followed by an 11:30 a.m. funeral service at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Following the funeral services, Paul’s cremation will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Paul’s memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
