Obituary of Robert H Boyle
Robert H. Boyle
South Plainfield, NJ * 66
South Plainfield, NJ – Robert Harry Boyle, 66, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 16,
2024. He was born on November 10, 1958, to the late James and Doris (Hill) Boyle and raised in
South Plainfield. Bob was known for pulling pranks on the neighbors of Libourel Road as a
member of The Three B’s consisting of his best friends Brett Giakas and Billy Haus. He later
spent ten years in Howell and returned to reside in the borough in 1997.
Bob worked for thirty-four years as Vice President of Purchasing for Roma Foods and then at
JVM Milano’s Cheese for the past thirteen years. He was a hard worker, and his charisma
earned him a reputation as one of the best dealmakers in the industry. Bob was known for
treating everyone with kindness and respect, making everyone feel important and included. For
over forty years, Bob was the Open Gym Supervisor for the South Plainfield PAL. He never
considered it work when he was at the PAL, because he was alongside his childhood best friend
Bill Haus.
Bob was a sports fanatic, and especially loved baseball. He pitched for St. Pius X High School, his
college team at Kean University, and won several championships with the Adult Softball League
in South Plainfield. Bob liked to follow the NY Yankees, Giants, and Knicks, as well as Notre
Dame Football. He was also passionate about giving back to the community. In 1996, he formed
the James and Doris Boyle Memorial Foundation and organized a renowned golf outing every
year since. The foundation has awarded over $100,000 in scholarship funds to students
graduating from South Plainfield High School or Sacred Heart School and helps countless
organizations in town.
For Bob, first and foremost was family. He loved planning annual trips to Long Beach Island and
Wildwood in the summer, and the Pocono Mountains for New Years. He enjoyed gathering the
family over shared meals, which became a ritual four days a week. While sitting back to enjoy a
good cigar and an espresso with Black Sambuca, he’d make everyone laugh by sharing epic
stories from his past. He made every day feel like a party, provided everyone with endless love
and support, and lived larger than life. To his kids and grandkids, dad/"Pepa" was the greatest
man in the world. He was a once-in-this-lifetime type of person.
Bob leaves behind his loving and devoted family: wife Deborah “Debbie” Russo Boyle; children
Megan Winters (William) of Stirling, Michael Boyle (Stéphane) of New Haven, CT, and Patrick
Boyle of Bayonne and South Plainfield; grandchildren Jordan William, Brody Robert, Peyton
Michael and Colton Patrick; brother James J. Boyle (Jo-Ann) of Hazlet; sister MaryAnn Boyle of
South Plainfield; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and, his four-legged companions Bella,
Reese and Madison.
