Obituary of Helen Dunn

Formerly of Middlesex – Helen (Szabo) Dunn, 94, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at RWJ University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville.  Born and raised in Manville to the late Joseph and Anna (Varga) Szabo, Helen lived in New Brunswick and moved to Middlesex in 1960.  For over sixty years, she resided in Middlesex prior to settling at Avalon Assisted Living in Bridgewater.

 

Helen cared for her family as a homemaker.  She loved spending time in the garden, crocheting and knitting and was an avid reader.  A lifelong member of the North Plainfield Traveling Seniors, she was also active with the VFW Post 6988 formerly in Middlesex.

 

Predeceased by her husband Richard in 2000, Helen leaves behind her loving son Richard and his wife Janice, two grandsons; Jonathan and his wife Allie and Kevin and his wife Torie as well as two great-grandsons, Everett and Henry.  She is also survived by her brother-in-law Tom and his wife Karen and by several extended family members, including nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 10am until 12pm.  Helen will be laid to rest beside her husband in the family plot of Resurrection Burial Park.
