Obituary of Richard Gryta
Bangor, PA – Richard Gryta, 78, passed away on December 29, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus in Easton, PA. Born in Plainfield to the late Francis Ralph and Harriet Victoria (Miynaski) Gryta, Rich lived in South Plainfield, was a resident of Califon for thirty-eight years and settled in Bangor, PA twenty years ago.
Rich was honorably discharged in 1968 from the United States Army after faithfully serving his country for two years during the Vietnam War as a Sgt. E-5. He went on to work for Picut Industries, Inc. in Warren and retired as a machinist and head tool maker.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and gardening, liked completing crossword puzzles and being around automobiles. Rich was also a member of the Richmond United Methodist Church in Richmond, PA.
Predeceased by his brother Dennis in 1965 and his first wife Janet in 2003, Rich leaves behind his wife Gloria, son David and his wife Elizabeth of Nazareth, PA, grandchildren Matthew, Alyssa and Amanda and great-granddaughter Rosalie Ann. Rich is also survived by his brothers; Francis of FL and Jeffrey of PA. step-daughter Caprila Perez and her husband Johan of North Plainfield, step-sons Edison and Geovanny and his wife Karolina, step-grandchildren; Jennifer, Sheila and Landon Nunez, Nicole and IIan Perez and Aaron Perez, step-great granddaughter Elaine Perez and step-niece Sandra Munoz Tejada or Queens, NY.
Visitation will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Sunday, January 5, 2025 from 1pm until 5pm and on Monday, January 6, 2025 beginning 10:30am. Funeral services will begin 11:00am on Monday followed by burial at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.
