Obituary of Larissa Iwaszczenko

Larissa Iwaszczenko, 40, passed away unexpectedly, on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Barnegat, NJ.

Born to Nina and Alex Iwaszczenko in Freehold, NJ, Larissa was raised throughout Ocean County, graduating from Southern regional High School. Following her graduation, she pursued several certifications in the Medical Assistant field.

Larissa loved animals, especially the many dogs and cats she had over the years, and enjoyed time spent riding ATVs.

Her legacy of compassion and generosity towards others’ lives on through her donation to The Gift of Life Program at Penn Medicine in Philadelphia, where she was able to be an organ donor.

Predeceased by her mother, Nina (Doroshenko) Iwaszczenko and nephew Benjamin Iwaszczenko, Larissa is survived by her father, Alex Iwaszczenko, and brothers, Danny and Paul (Bridget) Iwaszczenko. She will also be missed by her nephew, Jacob, as well as her many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation prior to funeral services, at McCriskin-Gustafson Funeral Home, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ beginning at 9 AM. Blessing Services will follow at 10:30 AM.

Funeral procession will follow to St. Andrew’s Cemetery, 280 Main St, South Bound Brook, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the Iwaszczenko Family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Larissa’s name.
