Obituary of RoseMarie Pelton
South Plainfield – RoseMarie Pelton, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2025 in the Autumn Lake Assisted Living.
Born in Winfield Park, NJ to the late Charles and Rose Salles, RoseMarie resided in Rahway with her late husband James for a short time before settling to South Plainfield where they raised their family.
RoseMarie was a devoted educator, passionately inspiring young minds throughout her extensive career with the South Plainfield Board of Education. She began her teaching journey in 1964 in Cranford and soon became a beloved teacher at both Franklin and Kennedy Elementary Schools, where she taught kindergarten. After 40 years of dedicated service, she retired in 2017, leaving a lasting legacy that was honored with the dedication of a “Rose Garden” in front of her former classroom.
In addition to her commitment to education, RoseMarie was a distinguished realtor in Middlesex and Somerset Counties. Her dedication to her clients earned her a place in the NJAR Circle of Excellence from 1990 to 2013. In her free time, RoseMarie did enjoy reading as well as biking. Above all, RoseMarie will be remembered for her endless love as a mother and grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Predeceased by her husband, James Pelton; surviving are her two children, Courtenay Butler and husband Patrick and Jeffrey Pelton. She will also be missed by her cherished grandchildren, Shannon and Tommy Butler.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 10:30AM in Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, 809 Hamilton Blvd, South Plainfield NJ 07080.
