Obituary of Lloyd Lawrence Dowdy

South Plainfield - Lloyd Lawrence Dowdy, 69, died suddenly Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at home. Born in Plainfield to the late Lawrence and Selma (Risoli) Dowdy, Lloyd is a life long resident of South Plainfield Borough and graduated from Immaculata High School in 1968. He worked as a Mason for over 40 years with BAC Local 4. An avid hunter of small game, Lloyd also enjoyed deer hunting. In his younger years, Lloyd participated in the Cowtown Rodeo where he rode bulls and bareback horses and was an all-around great athlete. Recently Lloyd was an avid golfer. Surviving are his two children, Jesse Dowdy and wife Ashley and Dallas Dowdy all of South Plainfield; three siblings, Phyllis DiPasqale of South Plainfield, Robert Dowdy of Metuchen and Lawrence Dowdy of Freehold and a host of extend family and friends. He will also be missed by his two granddaughters, Mackenzie and Aubrey. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080. A funeral mass will follow in St. Helena's RC Church, Edison. Burial will be held privately. Family and friends may attend visitation on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 7-9PM and Friday, May 4, 2018 from 4-8PM in the funeral home.
