Obituary of Allen D. Bender

Allen D. Bender, 66, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2017 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit. Born and raised in Plainfield, Allen had resided in North Plainfield for nearly 45 years. He was the current owner and operator of A&R Handyman Service based in North Plainfield. Regarded by his family as a fun, loving and caring family man, Allen was also known to be a car enthusiast. He was a founding member of the popular; Car Nutz Car Club and he regularly enjoyed attending car shows. In addition to his family that will deeply miss him, Allen will also be missed by those at Eddies Kitchen of North Plainfield, where his daily morning coffee ritual was held. Allen is survived by his loving wife; Patricia (Greco) Bender of North Plainfield, dear children; Kelly Bender currently of Chicago, Ill. and Ryan Bender and his wife Allison of Old Bridge, grandchildren; Lucas and Gavin Bender, brother; Gary Bender and his wife Carol of Easton , PA., sisters; Donna Bender of OR. and Debra Cloudman and her husband Paul of AZ. and his sisters and brothers in-law; Betty Knack and her husband John of TN., Arlene Szumski and her husband Tony of Bloomsbury and John Greco and his wife Kathy of Milford. Also surviving are numerous extend loving relatives and dear friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-9pm in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 15 beginning at 9AM in the funeral home followed by a 10am funeral mass at St. Joseph's RC Church, North Plainfield, NJ. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains, NJ.
