Obituary of John L. Sullivan

John L. Sullivan, III, 57 of South Plainfield, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville. A life-long resident of South Plainfield, NJ, John operated a family business, Sullivan's Auto Body, and graduated high school in 1978 from South Plainfield High School John is a devoted and loving husband and father. He loved telling everyone about his family and his two sons, Wesley and Johnny. John enjoyed hunting with his two beloved hunting dogs Lacy and Shannon. But his favorite place to be was out on the water casting his fishing pole trying to "catch the big one." A man with a wonderful sense of humor. John was kind and caring to everyone with many friends and family who love him dearly. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Russ Cembrola and brother-in-law Frank Levourne. John is survived by his wife Kathy and two sons, Wesley and fiancé Jessica Levin; John IV and fiancé Kristen Zavada; mother Joan Gransky Cembrola; father John L. Sullivan Jr. and wife Gail. Sisters Nancy Leslie; Susan Marlowe; Joan Marie Geyer and husband Howard. Brothers Michael, Teddy and Patrick. Brother-in-law Walter Levourne and wife Clare; sister-in-law Dolly Wood. Stepsisters Jill Carvello and husband Harry; Jacki McDonough and Pam; Stepbrother Jeff McDonough and wife Teresa. John had many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are welcome to gather on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at The Church of the Sacred Heart, South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home beginning at 9:00AM Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden.
