Obituary of John T. Felz

South Plainfield - John T. Felz, Jr., 71, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 14, 2018. Born in Jersey City to the late John T. Felz, Sr. and Rita (McLean,) John grew up in Colonia and lived in North Edison before settling to South Plainfield in 2000. He was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army after faithfully serving his county during the Vietnam War in the 25th Infantry. John was awarded the Purple Heart Medal and Bronze Star with Valor for his heroism in combat. He founded F & O Security in Manhattan in 1981. Until his retirement in 2011, he provided security for numerous banks and commercial buildings. He was a true outdoorsman, having a passion for skiing, softball and football. His real enjoyment came from coaching his children with their sports endeavors and the life lessons they learned. Predeceased by his parents and sister Mary Jane Felz, John leaves behind his wife of forty-four years, Rachel (Maiorino) Felz, three children; John of North Brunswick, Michael of South Plainfield and Jessica of Edison. He will be deeply missed by his four grandchildren; Kayla, Ava, Aubrey and Aiden as well as his three siblings; Kathleen Terkelsen, Mark Felz and Janet Felz. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 21, 2018 in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals from 4-8pm. A religious service will be held in the funeral home at 7:30pm. Burial with military honors will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 1:30pm at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions sent to the Wounded Warriors Project would be appreciated.
