Richard H. Trexler Former Edison Art Teacher South Plainfield, NJ - Richard H. Trexler, 69 died at home on Sunday, June 8, 2008. Born in Newark, Richard resided in East Orange and Bloomfield before moving to South Plainfield in 1970. Richard served his country in the United States Army National Guard. He graduated from William Patterson University with a bachelor’s degree. Retiring in 2000 from Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Edison, Richard was employed for over thirty-six years as an art teacher. He was a member of the South Plainfield B.P.O.E Elks Lodge #2298, a former member of the South Plainfield Historical Society, was an avid watercolor painter and he enjoyed spending time gardening. Richard coached baseball for Edison Schools and Girls Varsity Basketball for Edison High School. Richard is survived by his wife Carol (Warren) Trexler, his children; daughters Karin Trexler of Atlanta and Kathleen McCann and her husband Douglas of Piscataway and son David Trexler and Amanda Normoyle along with their daughter Grace of Boston. He also leaves behind his sister Marilyn Molinaro of South Plainfield. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2008 beginning 11:00 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation in the funeral home on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 from 4-8 PM. In Lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the South Plainfield Police Department, 2480 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield or to the South Plainfield Rescue Squad, 2520 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
