Richard E. Stranzenbach
South Plainfield - Richard E. Stranzenbach, 77, died on Tuesday, July, 14, 2009 at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Plainfield, Mr. Stranzenbach was raised in South Plainfield and lived in Camden and Rahway prior to moving back to South Plainfield, settling in the boro in 1962.
For 40 years Rich worked for the Middlesex Water Company and he retired as the Superintendent of the Meter Department.
He served with the Army during the Korean Conflict as a Corporal and is a life member of the Martinsville VFW Memorial Post 6588.
Mr. Stranzenbach enjoyed fishing, gardening, his dog Dutchess and traveling to Foxwoods Resorts, Mohegan Sun, Atlantic City and visiting his brother at Pachogue Pond, Connecticut.
He was a terrific husband and father and an exceptional pop pop.
He is pre-deceased by 2 brothers; Fred and Bobby.
Surviving are his wife Elizabeth (Lewis), 2 daughters; Betsy Plank and her husband Donald of Martinsville and Diane O'Rear - Bates of Delaware, his son Richard and his wife Denise of Forked River, his sister Joan Ryan and her husband Robert of Carteret and his 2 brothers; Roger and his wife Ginger of Neshanic and Larry and his wife Sue of Griswold, Ct. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Kimberly and Michael O'Rear, Megan and Evan Plank and Lee and Tyler Stranzenbach.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Interment will follow in the Springdale United Methodist Church Cemetery, Warren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
