South Plainfield- Alma C. Kenney (nee Cramer), 85, died on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the Manor Care Health Services in Easton, Pennsylvania.
Born and raised in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Alma lived in Paterson, Scranton, PA., finally settling in South Plainfield in 1951.
Alma worked for New Jersey Bell as a telephone operator in Plainfield for 20 years. Following NJ Bell, she worked for Kentile Floors in South Plainfield in the same capacity for 7 years and also worked for Loft Seed in Bound Brook for a few years.
A member of the N.J. Telephone Pioneers, Alma was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield; where she served as Past President of the Rosary Altar Society and she was also a member of the South Plainfield Senior Citizens also serving as Past President. In addition, Mrs. Kenney was an auxiliary member of the 101st Airborne.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Joseph T. who died in 1999 and by her grandson Robert Kenney, Jr.
Surviving are her 2 daughters; Kathleen Kenney and her husband Guy Konkoly of Cresco, PA., Mary Keller of Flanders, her son; Robert and his wife Sally of New Jersey, and by her step-brother Robert A. Cramer of Stroudsburg, PA. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 10:45 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield followed by 11:30 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield.
Entombment will be held in Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
