Frederick L. Perrine Active boro resident South Plainfield - Frederick L. Perrine, 68, died on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Born and raised in Plainfield, NJ he had resided in boro of South Plainfield for more than 40 years. Fred has been employed in various management positions for more than 50 years with Grand Union and most recently, Stop & Shop. He served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961 before being honorably discharged . Active with local youth organizations, Fred served in South Plainfield's scouting since 1974. He served as cubmaster of Pack 207, committee Chairman of Troop 125 and district Chairman for the Blue Mountain District of the Watchung Area Council, BSA. During those 34 years, Fred was honored with the rare privilege of helping over 20 young men attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Two of his sons are counted among them. Fred was recognized for his work in scouting with the District Award of Merit in 1991 and the Silver Beaver Award in 1994, the highest award given by BSA to an adult volunteer. He is also a 20 year member of the Flint and Steel Assoc., a local organization for scouting and other youth groups, which he chaired in 1997 and 1998. In addition, he was active in the South Plainfield Junior Baseball Club during the 1970's and 1980's. Volunteering as Snack Stand Manager, Executive Committee member, Team Manager in all leagues and All Star Team manager as well as Division Director. Fred also enjoyed being a 20 year member of the South Plainfield Elks Lodge # 2298 and his 30 plus years bowling with the He's & She's. Predeceased by his parents, Margaret & Harry, his sister, Shirley Perrine, his brothers, Harry & Charlie, his nephew, Christopher Perrine and his brother in law, Gunter vonHolten. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Noelle Joy (Kinney) . His four children, son, Rick L. and his wife Joan and their children, Ricky and Christian all of Milltown . Son, David T. of Hillsborough. Son, Brett P. his wife Alison and their daughter Gianna all of Branchburg. And his daughter, Kelly M. Kinney and her husband Benjamin and their daughter, Kaia all of Dunellen. Also surviving are his sisters, Barbara Perrine of Neshanic Station and Phyllis vonHolten of Fl. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield. Cremation will follow privately. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and beginning on 10:30 AM until the time of the service on Saturday morning in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a diabetes association of ones choice.
