John A. Abbruzzese John "Abby" Abbruzzese, 52 of North Plainfield passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at home with his loving family and friends at his side. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral services at the McCriskin - Gustafson Funeral Home, South Plainfield, NJ on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church in North Plainfield. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Plainfield, NJ. Visitation will be Friday, January 30, 2009, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Respects can also be done via the funeral home website at www.mccriskinfuneralhome.com. He was born April 3, 1956 in Plainfield, and was a life long resident of North Plainfield, N.J. He is the son of Josephine Abbruzzese (nee Josephine Spingola) of North Plainfield and the late Mario Abbruzzese,a retired North Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief. Abby was a retired fireman and Lieutenant with the North Plainfield Fire Department. He was a Life Member of NJ State FMBA, NP FMBA #53 NJ State Delegate, IAFF #2983 and 2958 and was also a Past member of the NP Fireman's Exempts Association. Owner and operater of ABBCO electrical business, John also served as an Electrical Inspector for Piscataway. In addition he is a past member of NP Italian American Club. John was a loving husband of 24 years to Cindy Tschopp Abbruzzese. A devoted father to their two children; his daughter Sharon Abbruzzese of New York City and his son Mario Abbruzzese, of North Plainfield who is following in the same footsteps as his father and grandfather, training to become a fireman. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Radice and her husband, Samuel Barnes of North Plainfield, mother in-law and father in-law, Ronnie and Sharon Tschopp of South Plainfield, sister in law, Sheri Cleaves and her husband James of Aberdeen, NJ, brother in law, Ronnie Tschopp Jr. and wife, Beth of South Plainfield. John will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, one great niece and many friends. Abby loved being a fireman and took great delight in boating and fishing with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed attending his children events during their school years. Abby loved to travel with his family and enjoyed the company of his many friends. A remarkable and funny man with an easy going personality, John was a man who was so loved. John will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
