Maria A. Roser
South Plainfield- Maria A. (Hoog) Roser, 88, died on Sunday April 5, 2009 at Greenspring Village in Springfield, VA.
Born in Filipova, Yugoslavia, she came to the United States in 1923 residing in New York City, before moving to South Plainfield in 1951.
Maria began a long career as a Bookkeeper initially working for United National Bank in Plainfield for 27 years and later for Thul's Auto Parts, also in Plainfield, for 17 years before retiring in 2004.
During WWII, she would volunteer at the New York Foundling Hospital in New York City and in the early 1950's, Maria would volunteer at the former Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield.
She was a long time member of Sacred Heart Church in South Plainfield and a home school teacher for their CCD program in the early 1970's.
Her beloved husband, John F. "Fred" Roser died in 2004.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy & Steve Holleran of Ormond Beach, Florida and her son & daughter-in-law, Dr. John F. Roser, Jr. & Kathleen Roser of Clifton, VA. Also surviving are her 4 grandchildren, Matt Bodnarchuk & his wife Miia, Andrew Bodnarchuk, Sarah Ann Marie Roser & Mary Katherine Anna Roser and a great grandson, Benjamin Bodnarchuk.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held on Saturday April 11, 2009 from 6-9 PM.
Memorial donations in her memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 200 Randolph Ave., South Plainfield, N.J. 07080.
