Obituary of Anthony S. Guarraci

Anthony S. Guarraci South Plainfield - Anthony S. Guarraci, 82, died on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in New York city, Mr. Guarraci came to South Plainfield in 1932 and has resided here ever since. Initially employed as a Machinist for Somerset Technologies in Somerset. He was well respected by his workers and was promoted to foreman before retiring in 1989. In his retirement, he continued to work part time as a crossing guard at various location in South Plainfield and was affectionately known to many of the children as "Pop-Pop." Anthony was a long time parishioner of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield, where he served as an usher at the former 10:30 AM Sunday Mass. He also was one of a few instrumental members who helped lead the fund drive to build the new church. In addition Mr. Guarraci was a third degree member of the South Plainfield Knights of Columbus Council #6203 and recently was indoctrinated to the fourth degree. Most importantly he adored his grandchildren and spending time with them. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Regina (Lombardi) Guarraci, his daughter, Victoria Guarraci of Piscataway and his son and his wife, Peter & Nancy of South Plainfield, his three adored grandchildren, Anthony, Christopher & Melissa and two great grandchildren, Griffin & Katie Grace. Funeral services will begin on Friday, June 29, 2007 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Entombment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2600 US Highway #1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902 or to Sacred Heart Church, 200 Randolph Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
