Frances M. Palitto Frances M. Palitto, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on her 90th birthday at Ashbrook Nursing Home in Scotch Plains. Born in Brooklyn on February 17, 1921, she lived in New York City until she was 32 years old and moved to Roselle Park where she resided until 1970. She then resided in South Plainfield before settling to Edison's Tyler Senior residence. While living in Roselle Park she was only one of two women that had the honor to served on the Roselle Park Police Auxiliary. Mrs. Palitto had been employed by Margie's Cake Box in Plainfield and later worked for Haisch Bakery in South Plainfield. She previously worked in various sewing factories and stitched parachutes during WWII. A former active member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in South Plainfield, Frances often assisted with the feast of St. Anthony and was also active with the Union County chapter of Deborah Heart and Lung. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting, but most important to her was her family. She is predeceased by her first husband, Matthew J. Lepore, her second husband, Sylvester Palitto and her 5 brothers and sisters. Surviving are her daughter, Rachael Callanan and her husband, Michael of South Plainfield. Her sons and their wives, John & Karen Palitto of Holmdel, Matthew & Louise Lepore of East Hanover, Anthony & Linda Palitto of Piscataway, Joseph & Connie Palitto of Springfield and Ross & Carolyn Palitto of South Plainfield. Her sister, Lucy Schifano of Manalapan, NJ and her 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ followed by a 10:00AM funeral mass in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, South Plainfield. Burial is going to be Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth. Visitation is Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 28 Kennedy Blvd., East Brunswick, NJ 08816
