Josephine R. Johnston
South Plainfield - Josephine R. (Verrengia) Johnston, 84, died on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the Arista Care at Norwood Terrace in Plainfield.
Born and raised in Newark along with her brother John and sister Rose she graduated from Arts High School. Josephine married Frank S. Johnston from Nutley in 1950 and together they had their only child Frank M. Johnston. Josephine lived most of her life in Newark before settling in South Plainfield 24 years ago.
Josephine was employed at Wallace & Tiernan of Belleville, NJ as a Production Planner & Expediter for 37 years. Well respected for her broad product knowledge and leadership she served as a valuable resource before retiring in the early 1990's.
Josephine enjoyed Photography and Bird watching. She travelled the east coast of the U.S. participating in several bird watching tours. But she derived the most enjoyment from spending time with her family and friends. "Josie" as everyone called her was noted for her frequent smile and easy disposition. She loved people and people loved her.
Predeceased by her husband, Frank S. Johnston in 1960, she is also reuniting with her predeceased sister, Rose Campione and brother, John Verrengia.
Surviving are he son and daughter in law, Frank and Suzanne Johnston of South Plainfield and her three grandchildren, Christopher, David and Steven.
A funeral mass will be offered on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 11:30 AM in St. Anthony's RC Church, Belleville, NJ.
Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
Family and Friend may attend the visitation hours on Thursday, July 2, 2009 from 2-4 &7-9 PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080
