Barbara B. McCauley

South Plainfield - Barbara B. (Bingham) McCauley, 76, died peacefully on Monday, August 9, 2010 at her home with her family at her side.

Born and raised in Montclair, NJ Barbara had resided in Weehawken before settling to South Plainfield in 1962.

She initial was employed by Esso Standard Oil in NYC. Barbara was later employed for over thirty five years as a dental assistant for the late Dr. Bernard Struhl, DDS and most recently for Dr. Douglas Klein, DDS in South Plainfield.

She is a former member of the South Plainfield Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary, a long time communicant of Sacred Heart Church in South Plainfield and in addition, Barbara, was a talented artist who enjoyed oil painting and wrote family based poetry.

More importantly, Barbara was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She and her late husband, Tom, served as foster parents to as many as thirteen children of various ages over a course of nineteen years.

Her dear husband, Thomas P. McCauley, died in October of 2008. Also predeceased are her sisters, Dorothy Lake, Shirley Helmich, Mary Lookup and brother, Alan Bingham.

Surviving are her children, Ginny Butrico and her husband, Dave, of South Plainfield, Janet Finamore and her husband, Steve, of Hillsdale, NJ, Carol McCauley of Greensboro, NC, James McCauley of San Antonio, TX., Thomas McCauley and his wife Gulia of Wind Gap, PA and Robert McCauley and his wife Amy of Simpsonville, SC., brother, Hayden Bingham, grandchildren; Sara, Christina, Michael and Corinne Finamore, David, Alyse and Kelly Butrico, Samantha and Robby McCauley, Dominika, Ryan and Ethan McCauley, and Felicia, Elizabeth, Christine, Steven, Justin and Amber McCauley, great grandchildren, David & Ashlyn Butrico and Joey & Jesse Martinez and Elyssa Santos, as well as her friend and caretaker, Sophia.

Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funeral 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred RC Church, South Plainfield.

Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
