Mary Serido Plainfield - Mary Serido (Gibriano) entered eternal life on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield surrounded by her family. The fifth of eight children to a family of first generation Italian immigrants. Mary was born to the late Samuel and Bridgette Gibriano in Plainfield on October 8, 1921. During WWII, Mary joined many of her fellow Americans in the war effort as a "Rosie the Riverter" by working in factories to provide munitions and materials for U.S. troops abroad. In her adult life, she enjoyed traveling, knitting, bingo, and playing cards with the "girls." She was perhaps best known to those close to her for her strength, love, compassion, and for her lifelong dedication to her family. She lovingly helped raise all of her grandchildren and it is a tribute to her special gift with children that up until the day of her death, her grandchildren from coast to coast fondly recalled stories that would prove that he or she was grandma's favorite. Besides her parents, Mary is pre-deceased by her brother James Gibriano and 2 sisters; Fortune Serido and Rose Guglielmo. Surviving are her 4 loving daughters; Elaine Biribin (Renato) of South Plainfield, Judith Bliss of Tucson, AZ., Joyce Serido (Barry Runyon) also of Tucson, Donna Meehan (John) of Asbury, NJ, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving Mary are 2 sisters; Josephine Miniere (Matthew) and Angelina Popolillo Mignella both of Toms River, and 2 brothers; John Gibriano (Linda) of Plainfield and Ralph Gibriano of Woodbine. Mary is fondly remembered by her many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
