Obituary of Mike Buyachek

Mike "Moe" Buyachek South Plainfield - Mike "Moe" Buyachek, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at his home with his family at his side. Born in Moose, PA, he had resided in New Brunswick before settling to South Plainfield 54 years ago. A proud veteran of the Korean war, Moe served in the US Army and has been a long time member of the South Plainfield American Legion Chaumont Post #243. He was employed by the former David Smith Steel and later by Lehigh Utilities, both of in South Plainfield before his retirement. Moe enjoyed spending his free time bowling, playing shuffle board and going to the legion. He is predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth who died in 1991, sisters, Mary Schlactun, Sophie Schlactun, Ann Stefko and brother, Nick Bayachek. Surviving are his three daughters; Michele Bataille of South Plainfield, Eileen Boettger and her husband, Alan of South Plainfield, Gail Anderson of Waynesboro, PA. Sisters; Kitty Halasz and her husband Bill of Highland Park and Helen Popadiuk of Raritan. Brother; John Buyachek of NV and brother in law, Ted Rupp of CT. Also surviving are five beloved grandchildren, Jason & Jimmy Bataille, Chris & Matt Anderson and Stephanie Boettger and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080, followed by an 11:00 AM funeral mass in Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, South Plainfield, NJ. Interment will follow in Lake Nelson Memorial Park, Piscataway, NJ. Family & friends are invited to attend the visitation hours on Sunday, January 24, 2010 from 2-5 PM in the funeral home.
