James J. Courtney James J. Courtney, 81, of Rockaway Twsp., died on Thursday, July 10, 2008 in Boonton at the Merry Heart Care Center . Born and raised in Jersey City, he has lived in the Dover Section of Rockaway Twsp. since 1956. He served in the US Navy during WW II and had been stationed on the USS Tollberg while serving in the Pacific Campaign. For over 50 years he had worked for the Ell-Bee Chemical Co. of E. Hanover and had worked his way up to being the plant manager. After leaving Ell-Bee, Jim had worked as a consultant for Colgate - Palmolive in Somerset before his retirement 15 years ago. He was known to many as Pop, Pop Pop, Jim or Uncle Jim, but he was mostly known as a die-hard Jets Fan since 1968. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Patricia in 1996 and by his siblings, Ann Flanagan, John Courtney and Rose Macellara. Surviving are his Daughter and son in law, Barbara and John Shuleski of South Plainfield, his son, James M. Courtney of Rockaway Twsp., his sister Dolores "Del" Mazzetta of Edison and his grandchildren Mary and Eric and great grandchildren Lillianna and Kylie. Funeral Services will begin on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 10:15 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, South Plainfield. Interment in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2008 from 2-6 PM at the funeral home
