John R. Fizur Piscataway - John R. Fizur, 49, died on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, John was raised in West Deptford and settled in Piscataway in 1990. He graduated from West Deptford in 1977. He worked for Honest House in Stirling as a drug and alcohol counselor until 2003. Prior to Honesty House, John worked for Webcraft Tech in North Brunswick. During his childhood, John enjoyed fishing. He was an avid baseball, comic and coin collector and took an interest in watching movies. He is predeceased by his parents Claire and John Fizur, his brother Joseph, his father-in-law Louis Cantamessa and by a sister-in-law JoAnne Eroglu. Surviving are his beloved wife Patricia (Cantamessa), his son Matthew both of Piscataway, his sister Claire Minch and her husband Thomas of Gibbstown, his brother James and his wife Susan of Deptford, his mother-in-law Joan Cantamessa, 3 sister-in-laws; Marge Fizur, Diane Mills and her husband Robert of Piscataway and Nancy Colvard and her husband Roger of Bethlehem, PA., his brother-in-law Jeffrey Cantamessa and his wife Barbara, and by several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his pet dog Maggie. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 9:15 AM in the McCriksin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
