Walter A. Rachwal
McDermott, OH - Walter A. Rachwal, 81, formerly of South Plainfield passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 in Portsmouth, OH.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he resided in South Plainfield for 45 years, before settling to Ohio in the late 1990's.
He had served his country well as a proud Marine and was one of the "Frozen Chosin" who served during the Korean Wars battle at the Chosin Reservoir.
Walter worked as a production manager prior to his retirement and most importantly will be remembered as a devoted husband, an inspiring father and grandfather and caring companion. He was a Marine who loved serving his country and had all the values of a good man.
His wife, Gladys, died in 1994. Surviving are two sons, Robert of Florida and Pete and his wife, Monica of South Plainfield. His companion, Janet Shope and two dear grandchildren, Kristen and Andrew.
Family& friends may attend the visitation hours on Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 3-7 PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Funeral services and military honors will be held privately on Monday in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Vets, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
