Lawrence L. Cochran South Plainfield -Lawrence L. Cochran 82, died on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at home. Born and raised in Newark, Larry resided in South Plainfield since 1953. He enlisted in the Navy in 1945 and served overseas prior to his honorable discharge in 1946 and in 1951, during the Korean Conflict, Larry re-enlisted in the Navy serving until his honorable discharge in 1954.. A member of the South Plainfield VFW Post 6763, Mr. Cochran was also a member of the Trenton American Legion Post 1000. For many years Larry worked as a mechanic for the former Comet Messenger in Woodbridge. He was an avid coin collector and during his younger years he enjoyed hunting and working on cars. His pre deceased by his son Lawrence K. who died in 1988 and by his sister Edith. Surviving are his daughter Susan Pilla and her husband John of South Plainfield and David and his wife Carol of Charloette, NC, his 2 sisters; Helen Ramstellar of CA. and Dolores Smith of FL., and his brother Harry of Tinton Falls. Also surviving are his grandchildren; David J. and Cassandra Cochran, Heidi and Jordan Pilla and Baldeo Tulsi. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 8:00 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by 9:00 AM funeral mass at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Dunellen. Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM with a 7:00 PM Parastas service in the funeral home.
