Obituary of Theresa N. Smyth

Theresa Smyth Theresa Smyth passed away peacefully on December 26, 2007 at St. Peter's Medical Center in New Brunswick, NJ at the age of 91. Theresa was employed by Law School Admissions Service in Newtown, PA for many years, retiring in 1984. She grew up in Brooklyn, NY, lived in Lower Bucks County (Levittown, PA) for 38 years and in Spring Hill, Florida for 10 years before relocating to New Jersey in 2000. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward C. Smyth, who died in 1959 at the age of 42. She was also predeceased by her parents, John and Blanche Niski of Brooklyn, NY, her sisters, Mary Feldt, Jean Filipkowski and Henrietta Boenig, and two grandsons, Stephen Braynock and infant Brian Moore. She is survived by her five children: Arlene Moore and her husband, Robert, of Vincentown, Barbara Braynock, and her husband, Edward, of South Plainfield, George Smyth and his wife, Lynnette of Edgerton, Wisconsin, Daniel Smyth, and his wife, Darlene, of Brooksville, Florida and Cathie Fiorentino and her husband Nicholas, of Glassboro, NJ. She is also survived by a brother, Vincent Niski of Queens, NY, 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m., Wednesday January 2, 2008 at the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, South Plainfield. Visiting hours for family and friends will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 1st at the funeral home. Donations in memory of Theresa Smyth to the Stephen J. Braynock Memorial Scholarship, addressed to The Foundation at New Jersey Institute of Technology, James Wellen, Director, University Heights, Newark, NJ 07102-1982 would be greatly appreciated. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery (Philadelphia Diocesan Cemetery) located in Bensalem. PA.
