Obituary of Everett S. Lewis

Everett S. Lewis South Plainfield - Everett Sanford Lewis, 87, died on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. Born in Newark, Everett settled in South Plainfield in 1956. He attended the former Newark College of Engineering for 2 years and served with the Army Air Corps as 1st Lt. during WWII. In 1961 he was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain. For many years Everett worked as a credit analyst with Dun & Bradstreet in Millburn and in 1970 he won the analyst of the year award. He was a member for 48 years of The Church of the Holy Cross in North Plainfield and served as an usher and Sunday school teacher. Mr. Lewis also volunteered with the South Plainfield High School Music Booster Club for nearly 10 years and in addition, he enjoyed walking around Spring Lake Park He is pre-deceased by his wife Florence Lewis who died in 1994. Surviving are his 2 daughters; Barbara Schnell and her husband Rich of Montclair and Elisa Lewis Kline and her husband Ned of Northfield, Ill., and his 5 grandchildren; Kathy, Kristen, Hailey, Emmie, and Andrew. Also surviving are his 2 great grandchildren; Sara and Ryan. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 10:00 AM at The Church of the Holy Cross in North Plainfield. Cremation is private. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2008 from 1-3 & 5-7 PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield.
