Maria L. Paternostro Edison, NJ - Maria L. Paternostro, 71, died at home with her family by her side on Saturday, October 2, 2010. Born in Italy, Maria moved to the United States as a teenager in 1956. She lived in Elizabeth, Scotch Plains and Colonia before moving to Edison in 1989. Maria spent her time caring for her family as a homemaker, working with her husband in the family business and was a member of the Vallatese Club in Elizabeth. She is predeceased by her brother Vito Sepia who died in July of 2009. Maria leaves behind her loving husband of forty-seven years Rocco, and by her two daughters and sons-in-law; Josephine Lenskold (Brian) and Paula Haborak (Thomas, Jr.) All of Martinsville. She will be missed by her six grandchildren; Thomas, Brian, Richard, Rocco, Joseph and Michael, her siblings; Assunta Bove of Italy, Incornata Cerullo of Garwood, Nicola Sapia of Edison, Gerry Sapia of Elizabeth and Antonette Mercante of Lakeapacong and by her brothers-in-law; Santo (Alphie) and Frank (Eileen) Paternostro. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 beginning 9:00am in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by an 10:00am funeral mass at St. Helena's RC Church in Edison. Maria will be entombed in St. Gertrude Cemetery Mausoleum located in Colonia. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Atlantic Hospice, 33 Bleeker Street, Millburn, NJ 07041 would be appreciated.
