South Plainfield - Thomas M. Daly, 51, died , unexpectedly, on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at his home.
Born June 25, 1957 in Plainfield to Thomas M. Daly Sr. and Jennie Jankoski, Tom grew up in South Plainfield where he has lived his entire life. He graduated in 1975 from South Plainfield High School and then attended Lebanon College in Pa.
He had worked, for many years, as chemical operator for National Starch at the company's former location in Plainfield. Most recently he had been employed by USA Container of Piscataway.
Tommy was totally focused on his wife and two sons and had immersed himself in the family's activities. He was a long time coach in various leagues of the SP Jr. Baseball Club and he was an avid Wrestling Fan of the High School's team. He was also one of the greatest fans of the Yankees and Giants . Being a history buff, Tom was an avid reader of many historical books and articles.
He was predeceased by his father in 1991.
Surviving are his wife, Joan M. (Macellara), his two sons, Thomas J. Daly and his fiancee, Kathleen McEvoy of Boston and William M. Daly of South Plainfield, his mother Jennie C. Daly of South Plainfield, his sister Theresa (Richard) Leitgeb of Bridgewater and by his sisters and brothers in law, whom he considered to be his own: Billy (Carol), Joe (Debbie) and Steven (Connie) Macellara and Gina Macan, Mary (Bob) Dilley and Rita (Paul) Nagy and by his numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 10:45 AM from the McCriskin -Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday, July 16, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the South Plainfield Recreation Wrestling Club, C/O The PAL, 1250 Maple Ave., South Plainfield, would be appreciated
