Lawrence Richards
South Plainfield - Lawrence Richards, 85, died on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Birchwood Square at Cranford Health in Cranford.
Born and raised Belfast, Maine, Larry moved to South Plainfield in 1951.
He served with the Navy during World War 2 and was discharged in 1951
For 25 years Larry worked for Johnson and Johnson in New Brunswick as an Electrician and was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union Local 169.
He loved to fish and travel and visited every state including a 3 month trip through Alaska.
A jack of all trades, Mr. Richards was the neighborhood "Mr. Fix It" and for 25 years he was a member of the Watchung Council Boy Scouts and he was also active in the Belfast, Maine Grange.
He is pre-deceased by his wife Eileen Richards, his son Ralph, his sister Doris Kinney and by his brother Linwood.
Surviving are his loving daughter Betty Ann Richards of South Plainfield and many loving friends.
Relatives and friends will be gathering on Saturday, January 16, 2010 for visitation services beginning at 9:00 AM in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints in Scotch Plains followed by a 10:00 AM church service.
Interment will follow at Lake Nelson Memorial Park, Piscataway.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Homeside Hospice, 152 Central Ave, Ste 100, Clark, NJ 07066.
