Charles H. McKnight
South Plainfield- Charles H. McKnight, 86, died on Thursday morning September 3, 2009 at Norwood Terrace Care Center in Plainfield.
Born in Newark, he moved to East Orange and settled in South Plainfield, where he has been a resident since 1953. During World War II, Charles proudly served in the US Army and later worked as an assembly line worker for Westinghouse in Newark for 43 years before his retirement in 1983.
Charles was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the "Double O" Hunting Club of South Plainfield.
He is pre-deceased by his wife Mary, who died in January of 2008, he is also predeceased by his parents; Mary & John McKnight and brothers; John and George McKnight.
Surviving are two sons and their wives; Gary and Gerilyn of South Plainfield and Kevin and Linda of Oxford, sisters; Margaret Walsh, Regina Dengal, Mildred Schneider, and Marilyn McKnight, and brothers; Robert McKnight and Thomas McKnight.
Also surviving are his grandchildren Matthew, Jeffrey, Christopher, Jessica, and Kimberly and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ Followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield, NJ.
Entombment will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield.
Family & Friend may attend the visitation hours on Friday, September 4,2009 from 3-7 PM
Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Sacred Heart RC Church, 149 South Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
