Obituary of Alice Benitz
Alice Benitz Edison, NJ - Alice (Roden) Benitz, 85, died on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital located in Rahway, NJ. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she has been a resident of Edison since 1950. Alice worked for the NJ Veterans Memorial Home located in Menlo Park as a housekeeper and most recently was a homemaker spending time with her family. She was a member and former past president of the American Legion Auxiliary unit #65 in Metuchen, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a love for taking cruises. She is predeceased by her husband Harold Benitz who died April 7, 1998, and by two siblings; Lee Hollingshead and Mickey Townsend. Alice is survived by her children; Robert and his wife Nancy of Edison, William and his wife Linda of Barnegat and Mary Flinton and her husband Bruce also of Edison. She leaves behind six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and her brother Charles Roden III. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 beginning with visitation from 2-4 PM and a memorial service held at 3:45 PM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Alice's name may be made to her family, C/O 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
