Loving Father & Grandfather
Manahawkin, NJ - Robert Bittle, 81 died on Sunday, September 14, 2008. Born in Scotch Plains, Robert resided in Watchung for thirty years and then Milford before settling to Manahawkin in 2007.
He graduated from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. He was a self-employed builder, worked as a Code Enforcement Official for East Brunswick and most recently he retired as a Construction Official from the Borough of Raritan.
Robert was former Captain of the Watchung Fire Department. As an avid boater and fisherman, he was a member of the Village Harbor Fishing Club.
He was predeceased by his wife Rosaline in 2006 and by his brother Richard.
Robert is survived by his children; Judith Mueller and her husband Robert of Bridgewater, R. Gary Bittle and Antoinette of Sussex, and Lauren Joyce of Glen Gardner. He will be missed by his seven grandchildren; Jillian, Adam, Katherine, Michelle, Kailey, Amanda and Kevin.
Visitation will be held in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Friday, September 19, 2008 beginning 9:30 AM with the funeral service held at 10:30 AM.
Interment will follow in Saint Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Sport Fishing Fund, P.O. Box 393, Martinsville, NJ 08836, a non-profit organization who helps build artificial reefs.
