Martha V. Robinson Martha V. Robinson, 87, passed away Tuesday March 2, 2010 at her home with her family at her side. Born and raised in Elizabeth, Mrs. Robinson resided in the North Plainfield and Plainfield for nearly 40 years before settling in South Plainfield in 2004. During WWII, Martha served as a Rosie the Riveter working for General Motors in the former Linden plant producing the Navy Hellcats. She also worked for the former Strand Department Store and Fleck Knit Wear both in Plainfield. Martha was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph's RC Church in North Plainfield and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City Casinos, as well as, spending time gardening with her dog, Stoli. She is pre-deceased by her husband Harold, her daughter, Joyce E. Wills and by her 2 sisters and a brother. Surviving are her son, Harold "Harry" Robinson and his wife Joanne of South Plainfield and by her 5 grandchildren, Scott Robinson and his wife, Lisa and their son, Zachary all of South Plainfield, Charles West, Jeffrey Bender, Christopher Bender and Pamela Wills and 4 additional great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield. Cremation services and interment will take place privately. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the South Plainfield Rescue Squad, 2520 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. ( www.sprescuesquad.com )
